"Mommy, how do you spell Bethlehem?" Monkey2 shouts from the other room.
I spelled it out, and then mystified that she had not yelled, "I can't do that letter!" at any point, I went to check on her progress.
She was sprawled on her belly with a giant drawing pad on the floor. I stared at her work. Every letter was recognizable -- who taught her to write her letters? Monkey1 must be playing teacher -- although not exactly in the order I had dictated them. She had started writing the letters with large spaces between them, then run out of room at the edge of the paper, so had apparently gone back and put the remaining letters in the spaces.
