Monkey1 received a locking diary for Christmas, wrote in it a few times, locked it, and lost the key. For the last three weeks we've been sticking random small objects -- tines of a fork, other small keys, twisty ties -- into the lock to trigger it open, without luck. This morning we tried a paper clip, which Monkey1 was able to turn 'round and 'round in the lock, so I gave it a little jiggle... and the little heart-shaped lock sprang open.
Of course a minute later, while leafing through the diary, the original key fell out from between the pages.
