More about the Yellow Dress

The night of Day Nine of school, I made sure the First Day of School Dress ("Satsuki Dress") was washed, dried, and hung on the coat closet knob, ready for the next day. Monkey1 had worn it every day except the two gym days, which I prepped her about the night before each time, when she had to wear sneakers and shorts, or in her case, a short skirt with shorts attached underneath.

Day Ten of school, she chose to wear something else. She didn't even notice the yellow dress in readiness for her. I made no comment.

Two days later, a non-school day, she noticed the dress still hanging on the knob. "Why is my dress here?" she asked.

When I explained that I had made sure it was clean and ready for her to wear and that she had chosen to wear another dress, she was puzzled that she had not worn it.

Monday is school picture day, and I'm curious if she'll wear it for that special day.
